The May 11 Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) tour of T3 Collingwood was a terrific opportunity to take 100 people from across the design, construction, education and development sectors through the project, currently in construction (this explains all those hard hats).

With presentations by project partners Hines, AECOM, Duo Projects and Icon, there were lots of great questions and conversations with a key focus being the project’s ambitious sustainability credentials:

-Targeting minimum 6‐star NABERS and 5.5‐star Green Star

-Reduced materials wastage: no need for false ceilings and wall coverings

-Mass timber construction: 37% less embodied carbon than concrete in a standard office building

-Timber ethically sourced from local renewable forests

-Location and building amenities encourage active lifestyles: walking or cycling to work, connection to outdoor space

-Community integrated: True live‐work‐play neighbourhood
